Mann originally filmed Exorcist: The Beginning, directed by Paul Schrader, but once a producers rejected a Shrader version of the film, Mann's character, Father Francis, got to exist as recast because of the programming conflict. A film went into release inside 2004 with James D'Arcy in the role.
